How old are you?

I am 33 years old.

Where are you from?

I am from Vienna, VA.

What is your musical background?

I’ll never forget when I was nine years old in the 4th grade my public school offered a strings class. The teacher said that the viola was the least competitive instrument so I started on viola that day. Since then, I studied viola earning a B.M. in viola performance from St. Olaf College and studied with the Chiara String Quartet at UNL.

What do you do for work?

Currently I make a living solely through music. I primarily performed live shows with my twin brother as Synergy Twins headlining on major cruise lines, music festivals, national sporting events as well as private and corporate events.
As times have changed, I’ve shifted from live performance to virtually performing as well as creating electric violin content over Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as The Drunken Fiddler. In addition, I’m currently focused on recording originals and covers, building an online presence for both myself and my twin.

Who is your biggest musical inspiration?

Hands down the Chiara String Quartet has been my biggest musical inspiration when it comes to classical performance and work ethic. They perform and record music at the highest level achievable with so much passion, energy and musicality. Since I switched over to electric violin, I discovered Mark Wood and became an instant fan. He’s essentially the Itzak Pearlman of electric violin and has inspired me to take on a never ending quest to experiment with effects to create tones and sounds never produced on a violin.

What do you like to do that brings you joy in your life?

I love experimenting and learning how to use different effects pedals and lighting. Since YouTube has such a wealth of information, I love searching for and watching tutorial videos to keep learning and improving that aspect of performance.

How did you hear about Quarantine Karaoke?

In March a lot of karaoke groups started popping up all over Facebook. I remember I was up late at night and did a Facebook search to check them all out and stumbled upon Quarantine Karaoke. If memory serves me right, that’s the first time I went live as well.

Checkout the video on the Quarantine Karaoke Facebook group page.
